…where to start…

sonovapreechaman = son of a preacher man, although strictly speaking, my father was not a preacher

My parents were both Samoan. My fathers father was a preacher, as was his father before him. My father was supposed to be a preacher, which would have made me the son of a preacher man, but even though he attended theological college he was unable to complete his final exams due to a sudden affliction that rendered him unable to write. He left theological college and emigrated to New Zealand where he became a carpenter. That was 1953. In 1955 my parents married. I was born 10 years later, the seventh of their eight children. Throughout the remainder of his life, even though he never gained formal qualification, he would preach an afternoon sermon once a month at the Pacific Island Congregational Church we attended. In that respect he was still a preacher and therefore I am the son of a preacher man

sam i sisifo = My first name is Sam (Samuelu actually, but most people call me Sam) – i sisifo is a reference to the fact that I was born in Western Samoa (which used to be known as Samoa I Sisifo)
